Lightning and a bit of wind

7:56 pm Previous Hurricanes Archive

We’ll hopefully be posting short more frequent posts now. We’ve started to feel the wind pick up and there is lightning on all sides. No rain yet and no thunder, but we can feel him coming now. We’ve still got electricity and internet, so it’s all good. Thanks for checking in!

Thanks for your posts here and all your work - it’s much appreciated. Can you keep us abreast of local weather conditions in Cancun so that we can extrapolate and imagine what is happening to the south of you? Thanks again!

I love the Mayans! Ellen, our son Vincent and I had planned this trip since last year and we landed last Monday. Caught wind of Dean and left last Friday and cut our trip short by a week. We try to get there every year and stay where the locals stay at the NH Krystal. Staff there are very gracious. We’ve made friends over the last five years at places like Envy and La Fisheria at the Plaza Caracol. It is in many ways our second home. We are praying for everyone there that they survive and are spared the impacts of this devastating storm.

    Hi all,
This is my fourth hurricane since living here, I experienced Ivan, Emily and Wilma before this. We live downtown so not near the beach but the family staying with us lives in the hotel zone and are worried about flooding in their home.

    Thanks for all your thoughts!

I remember standing right under a rotating funnel cloud one night in TX. The horror froze me still. Then I ran for the shelter. All passed by and we were fine. Hang on. We are praying for all of you!!!!
