A little update on Tulum
August 22, 2007 10:51 am Previous Hurricanes ArchiveReports indicate that Xelha and Xcaret received minor damages and will open on August 23rd after some clean up.
Dreams Tulum will reopen on August 25th.
The smaller eco places seem to have been hit or miss. There has been some challenges with roads leading down to them being washed out or under water.
The town of Tulum was not hit very hard at all and sustained little damage.
The popular Ana y Jose hotel sustained damaged to their property and the date of their reopening is not known.
The ruins were not affected.

So glad xcaret will be open. I was there in 1995 and it was soooooooo great. I am flying in with husband and kids on Sat Aug 25 from Los Angeles (so we don’t mind some rain)to stay at the Occidental Grand Xcaret hotel right next to the park. So glad I talked my husband into not cancelling our trip. Thanks again for this great website.

I am flying in tomorrow night.
So 24th is going to be our first full day. I am a little worried we wont have a beach. Our resort is in between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen.
What do you think the beach situation is going to be by the weekend?

Hey Guys! Your website is simply awesome! We will be in Cancun Sept. 8th thru the 15th. This will our first trip to Mexico so I was wondering if I get some info. There will be 5 of us traveling - all above the age of 16. We would like to do some deep sea fishing ( wondering if you could direct us to a reliable charter). We’re also planning on seeing Tulum, Xelha, & Xcaret. I know your’re probably swamped with requests for info, especially after Dean so any info you can send will really be appreciated. Thanks again for the great updates. You sure took care of all the worrisome news/weather reports.

my husband and i will be in Tulum in a week or so. we made reservations at Maya Tulum, which sustained some damage during hurricane Dean, but is luckily re-opening on Sept. 15 (the day we’re to arrive!). Unfortunately, their beachfront cabanas were washed away by 18′ waves (we were told). thank goodness we reserved a cabana more inland. we’re so glad our reservations weren’t canceled. we were told that they’re doing their best to be back to normal by the time we get there so we’re a little nervous about the condition that the resort will be in, but we’re going to remain positive! in any case, we’re happy to give them our business (and many others there) in this time of need.
